Visiting Magical Cambodia

Cambodia lies in the heart of Southeast Asia with numerous attractions and if you havenÂ’t visited Cambodia yet it is time you did! Especially visit the most famous ancient temple city in the world Angkor Wat ! You can find some very good hotels in Cambodia.

Cambodia is situated in the centre of Southeast Asia. The country invokes images of magnificent and the rich cultural heritage, especially the most famous ancient temple city in the world, Angkor Wat. Its magical reflection draws thousands of tourists from around the world every year. Cambodia has two international airports Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. There are several direct flights which connect these airports from other major cities of the world.  Cambodia is a mysterious country with a past which is both inspirational and sad. There is some magic surrounding the country which spell bounds people who visit the delightful yet mystifying kingdom. Natural disasters and sometimes inhumanity have been unsuccessful in compromising the awe of Angkor Wat.

Your first sight of Angkor Wat, the ultimate expression of Khmer brilliance, can simply be astounding and compares to very few destinations on the planet like Machu Picchu or Petra. You climb to the kingdom of the gods to one of the most spectacular temples Angkor Wat, a breathtaking synthesis of symbolism, equilibrium and mysticism.

There are many attractions in Cambodia including Angkor Wat, Bayon, Taprohm, ancient temples buried in the jungle, hill tribes of isolated areas, vivid pagodas, pristine islands and beach. The magnificence of the Khmer civilization and its friendly people will add to your experience in Cambodia.

You cannot ignore other parts of this stunning country. The sleepy coastal Kampot town offers a relaxing ambience and you can even trek to the adjacent Bokor National Park. Enjoy riding elephants in the Mondulkiri Province jungles or watch the fascinating Mekong dolphins in Kratie. People of Cambodian welcome tourists with an open arm and tourism has become a thriving industry, but the experience is still an adventure with a vacation.

There is a transformation in the natural cycle in Cambodia every year which is unique to this country. The course of the powerful Mekong River fills up and forces the Tonle Sap to turn its course pushing the stream up from the ancient capital. This phenomenon is celebrated as the country's most extravagant Water Festival in November each year. Cambodia has much more to it than its culture and temples. The busy yet captivating capital Phnom Penh is a center for political schemes, economic verve and academic activity.

Phnom Penh and Siem Reap are the most happening cities but much different from the way of life in the countryside of Cambodia. Here you can feel the best of pastoral life and eternal landscapes of stunning rice paddy fields and dancing sugar palms. You can keep some time for the other provinces or Srok to experience the authentic flavor of Cambodia.

Cardamom Mountains are much away from the coastline and a part of the huge tropical wilderness which is home to rare flora and fauna and is fast becoming a doorway to ecotourism adventures. Impressive Mekong River meanders along the country and is home to the last few freshwater dolphins here. If you enjoy cycling or dirt- biking you can go along the length of the river as its flows through the traditional communities.

It is true that Cambodia is home to the eighth wonder of the world but people remain its biggest treasure. The Khmers have seen tough times, managing through years of poverty, political instability and bloodshed but have kept up their indissoluble spirit and contagious optimism. They always have a smile on their face and no traveler returns from Cambodia without some respect and fondness for the people of this mysterious kingdom.

You can find some very good hotels in Cambodia. Amanjaya is an expensive boutique hotel in Phnom Penh. It is very well located overlooking the Tonlé Sap. Hotel de la Paix is a four star hotel with modern design and fashionable interiors. Amansara Hotel is situated in the Royal Residence area and offers luxurious facilities to guests. Heritage Suites hotel has been built on the east bank of the river and offers all modern amenities. Siem Reap has the Dragon Royal Hotel. It is just a minute walk from the Siem Reap War Museum as well as close to the city centre.

The beaches of Cambodia are as spectacular as the ones in Thailand but minus the crowds. The wilderness here is not as explored as in other parts of the world. This is the heart of Southeast Asia, with numerous attractions and if you haven’t visited Cambodia yet it’s time you did!
